After attending Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, on a football scholarship Pastor Deckard returned to Houston and began working with youth from the inner city streets of Houston’s Fifth Ward. With that one opportunity, became others. The Lord began to open up opportunities to serve in ministry and he served as Youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Senior Pastor for three local churches in Houston, Texas.

 

In 1997 Pastor E.A. Deckard had the privilege of marrying Sandra Denise Norris, during his time as Pastor at New Life Community Church and in 2007 they founded the Green House International Church.

 

Pastor Deckard has been featured preaching and teaching on both radio and television and his unique style of sharing the Word of God has impacted lives throughout his ministry. He has also been honored by several local and national organizations for his dedication and work in the inner-city neighborhoods of Houston, Texas.

 

He is currently a contributing writer with the Houston Forward Times with weekly articles titled “Forward Thinking” he coaches and encourages people of all ages weekly through his commentaries on social and political issue, divergent thinking bible lessons and tools on being active and involved in the community. An active member of the Kingdom Builders Global Fellowship under the leadership of Bishop James Dixon, and a member of the Full Gospel BC Fellowship, Pastor E. A. Deckard also works with Project Forward and the Black Male Summit.

 

Locally Pastor Deckard was honored by Klub Koinonia for being one of Houston’s Premier Pastors who is cutting edges by his outreach efforts in the community. A member of the NAACP and Spring Independent School District Supertindent search committee Pastor Deckard inspires people from all generations to become change in a challenging and spiritual environment.

       

His latest community involvement is partnering with “End Mass Incarceration Houston” which bring attention to “mass incarceration” rates of minorities nationwide. This movement is committed to eliminating numerous factors fueling mass incarceration.

       

Today Pastor Deckard utilizes any and all resources for outreach that he can. Radio, magazines, Television, word of mouth, Internet, anything that he can to spread the word , the love, and the greatness of God to make sure that this year, is a year of Double Double for any and all who hear and receive the Word.

       

Pastor E.A. and Sandra Deckard are the proud parents of Jessie, Diamonic, Chasate and the late Genesis Ne’vaeh Deckard and granddaughter Harmonee D Bryant. The Deckard’s were also blessed in 2008 with the addition of Charles Qualls III their spiritually adopted son.
